Conference

Can degrowth lead to a sustainable and fair future?

How can we move beyond corporate power?

Why re-inventing corporations can help us build a fairer and more sustainable future

At the start of 2025, we saw a new tech oligarchy stand shoulder to shoulder with US President Trump at the start of his second term. Since that moment, there has been a global ground swell of resistance against corporations, with boycotts reaching a popularity which hasn’t been seen since the movement again Apartheid South Africa.

In the US some of the world’s richest billionaire tech executives put democracy into question and in the UK, corporations continue to pollute our water and our air, while bills continue to increase. There is a growing hunger for something different, not just from across the Atlantic, but globally.

For our 2025 conference, we will be bringing together ethical organisations pioneering alternative business models, alongside engaged individuals, campaign groups and activists pushing for a fundamental change in how we think about companies.

Come together and join us for another day of insightful discussions and workshops, connecting with like minded people.

We will be taking a look at some of Ethical Consumer’s own work on challenging corporate power over the years, as well as issues surrounding tech that is being manipulated by some of the richest and most powerful on the planet.

This years conference will be held on Friday, 7th November 2024, at Rich Mix in Shoreditch, London with a day of discussions, talks and workshops.

Here is what some of the attendees said about our conference last year:

“I enjoyed hearing the stories about people taking positive action. Always so inspiring and helps me to stay focused on my own work. It is easy to fall into despair about the state of the world but we have to look the problems straight in the eye and move over, around or under them.”

________

“Extremely positive and reassuring atmosphere – necessary when we are facing such daunting challenges. I learned about some initiatives I hadn’t even dreamed of, including a few that I might be able to support in a small way. All attendees whom I met were also approachable, thoughtful and sane people, not at all how the right-wing media like to portray the whole ecology movement.”

________

“The content was ambitious and intersectional. I liked the challenge to the status quo, hearing from your researchers and also introducing more diversity and youth to the conversation. The venue was great and the food was excellent.”
