About

Sara is a degrowth and climate researcher, political ecologist, and activist. In her work, she deploys fresh narratives and research, mixing natural and social sciences, and getting audiences to join the dots between politics, economics, climate change, race, inequality, and social justice.

She currently leads communications and messaging at Rethinking Economics International. In recent years, Sara has debated economic growth at Channel 4, bridged the gap between urban researchers and policymakers at LSE Cities, led campaigns with the Earth Day Network, codesigned activities and programmes at the Doughnut Economics Action Lab, Natural History Museum, and UNFCCC, and returned to school for a Master’s degree in Anthropology, Environment, and Development at UCL.

Before moving to the UK, Sara spent a decade as a conservationist in India, working to protect endangered species and forests alongside local communities, helping draft one of South Asia’s first climate action plans and policies, fundraising for grassroots cooperatives, writing, speaking, drawing, and engaging with the public and policymakers, notably at Sanctuary Asia, among others. Sara is also researching degrowth pathways to mitigating inequality and social injustice at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
