Saurabh Arora is a Senior Lecturer in Technology and Innovation for Development (SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit) at the University of Sussex Business School.
He grew up in the Himalayas and their plains across north India, although he feels more at home in peninsular India with its openness to the ocean. He has lived in the UK since January 2014, and before that, worked and studied in Minnesota and the Netherlands.
His research and learning journeys over the last two decades have focused on sustainability and its politics, particularly concerning science, technology and innovation issues in agriculture and energy. His current work focuses on conceptualising colonial modernity in relation to sustainability transformations and on struggles for decolonisation to realise a flourishing pluriverse.
His writing on degrowth and decolonisation includes From Growth, through Degrowth, to a Pluriverse of Flourishings and Degrowth and the pluriverse: continued coloniality or intercultural revolution?
